Kendal Prayer Meeting

The 'John 17 Prayer Group' will be meeting in the Narthex at STK on Monday 25th May 7-8 (Bank Holiday Monday).  This is an opportunity to pray with Christians from other Kendal churches to see God's kingdom come across the region and the world.

Women’s bible study

The women’s bible study is underway but it is not too late to join in, the next dates will be 1st and 8th of June. We would love to see you.

Revelation podcast: View from a Different Place

All ten podcasts in this series of bible studies are now published on Spotify and YouTube. To find them, simply go to one of those websites and search for ‘View from a Different Place’.

We have tried to avoid speculation on ‘end-time’ theories and instead concentrated on what the text would have meant to the first readers, then applying this to our own lives, churches and situations.

Each episode is in the format of a discussion between David Parsons and a guest, with questions for group discussion or personal reflection.

Group Leaders Notes are available for groups or individuals: contact David Parsons at kendalbiblebloggers@btinternet.com

The Shopping Bus - help needed

As part of our outreach the Church runs a Shopping Bus once a week for those living in the parish who would otherwise struggle to get to a supermarket. We are very short of helpers, affectionately known as "clippies" Your job involves being host to the passengers, collecting the fairs and carrying their shopping; if you have a Wednesday morning free do you think this is for you? if so speak to Helen Whittaker or leave a message with the office.

5th Sunday Special - 31 May 2026

We will be having one service for everyone NEXT WEEK at 11am. Our focus will be on the national Christian children's charity Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) that helps churches to bring hope and a future to struggling children in the UK. One of their schemes is “Make Lunch” which we are getting involved with.

After the service, we’ll be having a bring-and-share lunch together. So, if you like to follow a theme, how about making and bringing something you enjoyed eating as a child (cottage pie, blancmange, and, yes, jam sandwiches are permissible!) or something children would love to eat today. Sign-up with Barbara this Sunday or email barb@computers-and-things.co.uk

St Thomas Count on Nature

We'll be participating in the national "Churches Count on Nature" scheme on Sunday 7th June, immediately after the 1045am service. We'll meet to pray in the churchyard, and do an easy survey of our churchyard's biodiversity, to be submitted into national nature conservation databases. All welcome, no prior experience necessary. For more details, see https://arocha.org.uk/event/churches-count-on-nature-2026/ or contact timlamont321@gmail.com

You are invited!

To St.Thomas's School 60th Anniversary Celebration Service! Thursday 25th June at 9.30am.

A special service of celebration, reflection and thanksgiving for our school, church & wider community.

St. Thomas’s Day Summer Fair Saturday 27th June 10-3

We still have a few spaces left if you’d like to have a stall at our summer fair. So, if you’re an artist, crafter or artisan, or you’d like to raise some money for your charity get in touch soon. We will also be having a plant stall run by Nick & Kath Gray. So please remember this if you’re splitting perennials or potting up any spare seedlings. Maybe put some spare bedding plants in a hanging basket or patio pot for the stall? And we’ll be having a cake stall run by Stephen Coleman – so get your recipes ready. A pop-up pizza stall will also providing fresh pizzas for lunch and there’ll be more cakes, cookies and drinks.

This time the charity we’re raising money for is Mercy Ships - a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need.

Contact Barbara Handley (barb@computers-and-things.co.uk) for further details.

Love God's Creation

Success in obtaining £1900 for biodiversity work in the churchyard! It is great news that the council have funded our application for ~£1900 to spend on biodiversity work in our churchyard. We’d love to hear your ideas for how we can use this well and how you would like to use the churchyard to benefit nature and our community. Send ideas to ruthalicelamont@gmail.com

Acts 2.1-21 - questions for reflection this week (Sunday 24th May)… pick any of the questions that appeal to you - and make space to encounter God together!

1.    Why did the disciples need the Holy Spirit?

2.    How would you explain the purpose of your Christianity – what do you think God wants you to do with it?

3.    What do the tongues of fire represent?  In view of what God calls us to, what parts of us need to be consumed, refined or consecrated.

4.    What was the purpose of the tongues that were spoken on the day of Pentecost? Who sees and hears your life with Christ?

5.    What do you think a Spirit filled church looks like?  What do you believe God can do with the church in the world?

6.    William Booth is reported to have said: “I’m not waiting for a move of God – I am a move of God.” If God fills you with his Spirit today – what changes?

7. Take time to pray and wait on God to fill you with his Spirit...
